Mill Scartazzini in Promontogno
Mill, bakery & pasta production
Already in the middle of the 17th century there was a mill in Promontogno, on the course of the river Maira. Since 1864 it has been operated by the Scartazzini family as a commercial mill. It is thanks to Gian Andrea Scartazzini that Molino Scartazzini & Co, one of the last two grain mills in Graubünden, is still in operation. Together with his sons Vittorio and Giulio, he runs the mill in the ninth and tenth generations. With about 150 tons of milled flour per year, the Scartazzini mill is one of the smallest - but probably also one of the most romantic - mills in Switzerland.
